SA, and much of Africa, continue to be left behind because unfocused, unsuitable, often unethical and undemocratic people who lack vision, have been elected in positions of leadership for their prose and dance techniques – with nothing else to offer, write Solly Moeng and Rinku Vij.
It is hard to imagine how South Africa’s leaders could finally focus on strengthening the country’s eroding systems while they remain too focused on their belly buttons. South Africa, and much of Africa, continue to lag behind much of the world because, principally, unfocused, unsuitable, often unethical and undemocratic people who lack vision, have been elected in positions of leadership for their prose and dance techniques – with nothing else to offer.

Mindful of the increasing need for “digital is king and data is queen”, a detailed analysis of governance practices across the continent reveals many reasons to worry.
