Background: I Choose Life Africa (ICL) is a Kenyan youth-focused Non-Governmental Organization that has for the last 17 years supported the Government of Kenya to improve the lives and opportunities for young people. ICL has established a strong footprint in our economy’s key sectors across 26 counties in Kenya. Our Vision is ‘Healthy Africa, empowered people!’. Job Purpose: Reporting to Business Development Officer, the tailoring team will perform a variety of functions in producing tailored products. In addition, they are to support counties in the actualization of their county strategic plans aligned to Vision 2030.
Position:Head of Department
Reporting to: Business Development Officer, Production
Job Summary: Supervision of Garments production daily schedule and ensure quality
Job Responsibilities
· Control and follow up the Sampling, Cutting, Sewing, Finishing and Q.C
· Review the weekly order.
· To follow up the maintenance of Garments Machines, tools, and other equipment’s.
· Maintain the garment related other necessary works.
· Have to maintain a plan to achieve the target as per organisation activities.
· Any other works as and when required by the management.
· Ability to follow up the maintenance of Garments Machines, tools, and other equipment’s.
· Ability to Control and follow up the Sampling, Cutting, Sewing, Finishing and Q.C Section.
· Capable to supervise, guide, control and motivate the workers.
· Capable to handle complete sewing garments all Activities.
· Well experienced about quality garments.
· Operation wise hourly production & price knowledge.
· Sewing Production General Manager Capable to maintain all types of sewing Quality Goods.
· Other Skills: Good Communication Skill
· Control the production Activities.
· Sewing Production General Manager to ensure the quality of Garment Production.
· Keep Record for pre-Production meeting.
· Maintain Shipment schedule.

Position: Designer
Reporting to: Business Development Officer, Production
Job Summary: Creation of products,
The designer works under the Head of Department. They will assist with the production of clothing, and accessories and select trends, fabrics, colours, prints and trims for the collection.
Job Responsibilities:
· Come up with mock-up, sketches and drawings of products to be produced
· Conduct market research to identify new trends, fabrics and techniques and seeking design inspiration.
· Ensuring products are in agreement with order.
· Ensure samples are created
· Ensure samples are approved
· Ensure order design resembles item produced
· Keep records of products produced
· Keep records of digital products per collection
Competencies
Proficiency with Microsoft office
Proficiency in Adobe or any other Computer Aided Design (CAD) application softwares
Ability to do sketches by hand
Excellent sense of style
Ability to meet multiple deadlines
Position: Supervisor
Reporting to: Business Development Officer, Production
Supervisory line: Tailors, Cutter, Helpers
Job Summary: Supervision of Garments production daily schedule and ensure quality
The supervisor works under and reports to the Head of Department. The supervisor should display skill in construction, alteration, modification, and repair of garments. The supervisor would be responsible for the daily production of items in daily order plan.
Job Responsibilities
· Monitoring processes, materials, or surroundings
· Inspecting equipment, structures, and machinery to ensure all company property is in place.
· Guiding, directing, and motivating subordinates to ensure smooth flow of work
· Training, teaching and guiding subordinates.
· Directs workers in techniques or procedures in sewing new designs.
· Coordinating material and work distribution to ensure achievement of targets.
· Recording number of pieces processed by workers for production cost records
· Performs duties as described under head of department.
Competencies:
The ability to use international sizes to create various garment patterns
The ability to take measurements
Effective communication skills
Good hand-eye coordination
Detail oriented
The ability to work quickly and accurately
Good maths skills for measurements and calculations
Able to assess first samples

Position: Tailor/Machine Supervisor
Reporting to: Supervisor
Job Summary: Garments production
The tailor will work under the Head of Department and reports to both the Head of department and supervisor. The tailor should display skill to construct, alter, modify, and repair garments to fulfil the customer’s needs.
Job responsibilities:
· Discussing design, design alteration, or repair requirements with supervisor for production.
· Cutting fabric
· Construction, design alteration, modification, and production of garments.
· Taking measurements when needed.
· Accurately recording customer’s measurements, instructions, and preferences.
· Attaching labels to customers’ garments to prevent error.
· Affixing buttons, zippers, clasps, laces and similar fittings.
· Detecting and repairing basic faults with the sewing machine as they occur.
· Altering garments to improve fit and comfort which includes shortening sleeves or straps, narrowing lapels, as well as taking in or letting out seams
Competencies required.
The ability to use a sewing machine
The ability to construct full garments such as shirts , dresses, coats e.t.c as instructed by supervisors

Detail oriented
Position: Cutter
Reporting to: Supervisor
Job Summary: Garments cutting
Responsibilities:
· Discussing design, design alteration, or repair requirements with supervisor for production.
· Cutting fabrics
· Producing patterns
· Ensuring there is cut work for
· The ability to use a sewing machine
· The ability to construct full garments such as shirts, dresses, coats e.t.c as instructed by supervisors
· Effective communication skills set production dates
· Good hand-eye coordination
· Detail oriented

· Affixing buttons, snaps, and other needle work applications

· Identifying any visible mistakes

Basis knowledge of stitch review
Ability to document and report ready items
